The MFP provides information on locations in Mecklenburg. This information will support genealogical research.
MFP LocationDatabaseThe MFP LocationDatabase contains 3343 entries and pursues three aims:
Some sources that were used were various maps (from different times),
indices of Schubert's volumes and Albrecht/Endler,
Mecklenburg's geneological sources, 1936, p. 99ff.
There were quite numerous additions, updates and (surprisingly
many) corrections, that members of the association brought together. The DataBase contents was prepared by the following members of our association: Dr. J. Alm, T. Dittmer, Dr. D. Garling, Prof. Dr. H.-D. Gronau, M. Renken, K.-H. Schröder and P. Starsy. Please, inform us if corrections or additions are necessary! Northern Genealogical Associations![]()
Mecklenburg - SchwedenThere are genealogical relations between Mecklenburg and Sweden. Many emigrants went from Mecklenburg to Sweden, after the 30-years war Mecklenburg regions belonged to Sweden. Swedish genealogists with German ancestors are united in the G-Group (G like Germania: Roman name for Germany and the Baltic Sea area). The G-Group is a free group of genealogists in the StorStockholms Genealogiska Förening (Groß-Stockholmer Genealogical Association), which have German ancestors. Their aim is to help each other and also other interested people. The president of the G-group, Gustaf von Gertten (Gustaf.von.Gertten@swipnet.se), and his group wants to have many contacts with genealogists and associations in Pomerania, Mecklenburg, Lower Saxonia and Schleswig-Holstein. Their website will be extended with German language pages, to help German genealogists in their research in Northern countries. By the way, in Riksarkivet in Stockholm are many records about Mecklenburg. Help for Genealogical Research in the Ämter of MecklenburgOur member V.
